A blepharoplasty is an operation performed on the upper and lower eyelids to reduce the extra skin and prominent fat that may have developed as a result of aging or hereditary factors. People get blepharoplasties because they want to rejuvenate the appearance of their eyes. Very often patients are told that they look tired all the time or they look angry and what blepharoplasty can achieve is it can reduce some of the extra skin that is weighing down the upper lids or the extra skin that is creating wrinkles and contour irregularity um to the lower eyelid and um have a more open eye appearance and achieve less puffiness around the eyes. The goal of blepharoplasty is to achieve a natural, rejuvenated appearing eye. One where a patient’s eye is still able to close and uh function as it normally would and uh one that has a natural, un-operated appearance um and this is achieved in a very individualized way from patient to patient.
