Revision Nasal Surgery to Repair Septal Perforation
This patient presented with a large septal perforation, a deviated septum, nasal valve collapse and bilateral nasal obstruction. She had undergone a rhinoplasty 12 years prior that initially caused the perforation in her septum. A previous attempt to repair the defect was unsuccessful and resulted in the perforation becoming larger and infected. The patient and I discussed her options and goals at length, she understood that, due to the severity of her perforation, a complete closure might not be possible. Our goals going into her operation included: closure or reduction of the septal perforation, reduction of the septal deviation, and repair of the internal valve collapse.More
